I’m struggling – where to start. Italy is amazing, from the fabulous architecture to the food and the beautiful people. I booked this trip through Gate One Travel.
#1 tip in Italy: Skip dinner and get Aperitivo – go to a restaurant or cafe around 6pm have a few drinks or wine and they keep bring appetizers which are free, it usually include salami, cheese, bread, vegetables – depends on the establishment but it is amazing. House wine is delicious and cheap. Try an Aperol Spritzer, Aperol is a bitter orange aperitif, Prosecco and soda water, so light and refreshing.
I was last in Italy in spring 2017. I flew into Milan, and drove to Montecatini terme. It
Cafe in down town Montecatini. Have an espresso and croissant, delicious!
is a lovely town in Tuscany our main stop (it is between Florence and Lucca). My daughter and I rented a vehicle and drove south. We saw the marble mountains of Carrara, what a wonderful sight, looked like snow on a mountain top. Look at that back ground the colorful town of Manarola. We arrived by train and walked through a tunnel to this outstanding view. My daughter and I ate at a lovely seaside restaurant, really good lunch. See menu below. A Porticciolo Ristorante Dal 1972.
